Cannabis QAP Jobs – Labor Market Analysis by NACPT Pharma College
What Is Cannabis Quality Assurance?

Why is Quality Assurance Important?

Quality Assurance (QA) protocol must be kept in place in the cannabis industry in order to ensure the safety of the consumer. Whether it’s for recreational or medicinal use, there are requirements that must be met before the cannabis can be obtained by the consumer. With an increase in the use of cannabis in the legal market, there is a growing demand for Quality Assurance Person (QAP) in Canada and North America.

Guaranteeing safe and consistently high-quality cannabis is the goal of the QA. In Canada, the QA must navigate Health Canada’s regulations while overseeing the entire process. From the moment the seeds enter the soil to the harvest and finally the packaging, the QA will have systems in place to prevent any potential issues.

What does a Quality Assurance Person (QAP) do?

The job of a QA person includes:

  • Designing and setting up the Quality Control laboratory
  • Overseeing equipment orders

  • Prepare monthly reports on Cannabis inventory for Health Canada
  • Write, review and approve all Standard Operating Procedures.

A QAP must be familiar with Cannabis Good Product Development (GPD) and Good Production Practices (GPP), Health Canada Regulations, the Cannabis Act, the Narcotic Control Regulations, Pest Control Act (PCA) and more to be qualified to work in a Cannabis facility in Canada.
