Program Overview

The nine-month technology-driven cannabis production program prepares you for industry-relevant jobs comprising Cannabis Master Grower, Responsible Person, Cultivation Technician, Extraction Technologist, Cannabis Consultant/Educator and Product Developer. The program also opens career paths in cannabis sectors from healthcare, edibles, and cosmetics to nutraceuticals in Canada. Through this program, you will learn how the Canadian cannabis industry’s regulatory framework applies to commercial cannabis production. The program covers  Cannabis Regulations and Cannabis Commercial Production Mechanisms (Cannabis Cultivation, Extraction, Biotechnological Processes, and Tissue Culture) and all the production-related activities within the scope of the Cannabis Regulations Act.

The program provides extensive knowledge on cannabis history and related regulations, current cannabis regulatory requirements, cannabis quality management systems, cannabis plant diseases, and current cannabis pest management techniques and sanitation programs besides other topics. Students will also learn skills through hands-on training or online satellite training with cannabis plants.

Industrial workshops and production practical training in the curriculum helps in ultimate cannabis production exposure. The NACPT has a faculty of professional expertise and industrial knowledge who conduct regular program reviews for an updated course content that cater to the current job market in cannabis production.

JOB ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (OPTIONAL)

NACPT offers its unique job development program for all graduates. Being a part of the program will allow the graduates to work with an industry professional, individually, to obtain the maximum job opportunities in the Cannabis Production Technology industry. As part of the job development program, the career development team will help each NACPT graduate tailor the resume, prepare candidates for specific job positions, conduct mock interviews, connect with industry experts, and have exclusive access to the job market. Every qualified student will receive references on particular projects completed under this program. You will also have the opportunity to with NACPT alumni working in pharma or related sectors.

Cannabis Production Exposure – The program will include industrial workshops and production practices training where the students will closely work with the institution to go through industrial exposure.

Who Can Apply

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; or
  • Mature Students or at least 18 years of age and pass the Wonderlic SLE with a minimum score of 11

International Students

  • Attach a copy of your academic record in your native language and in official/certified English translation.
  • Students from countries where first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency:
    IELTS Academic: An overall minimum score  of 6.0 (no single test score below 5.0),
    TOEFL: 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based) or 88 (internet-based),
    CAEL: Overall band score of 60.
  • Students without an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent must write the Wonderlic Assessment Test.
  • Students who are or above 18 years of age should pass the Wonderlic Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test.
    (The assessment will help measure the cognitive ability and problem-solving aptitude of prospective employees for a range of occupations.)

CPP, CISSO, Faculty Member of Industrial Cannabis Production Technology

Alex Goldstein, CPP, CISSO, holds an Honor BA from York University, double-majoring in Criminology and History, a Certified Protection Professional Certification from ASIS International, and a Certified Information Systems Security Officer Certification from the United States Committee on National Security Systems. In his 14 years of progressive experience servicing the Canadian public sector and private Security industries, most recently, he worked with Led Threat Risk Assessments and suitability reviews, site audits, Standard Operating Procedure reviews, and site/design plan consulting for cannabis companies across Canada. Over the last few years, Alex has been closely working with many start-ups and existing leading cannabis companies to develop security plans, plant management systems, and facility design.
