PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Accounting and Payroll Administration diploma program provides the skills and knowledge required for Financial Assistant, Audit Assistant, Bookkeeper, Payroll Administrator, Accounts Manager and other related jobs in Canada. The program will cover accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, legal and ethical business operations, Canadian Tax laws and all essential accounting and payroll software currently used in the industry.

This is a fast-track program that quickly gets you into the workforce as the curriculum is extremely focused on the specific requirements of the profession. The graduates will have the option to join a free job assistance program provided by NACPT’s Career Service Team.

Under the NACPT faculty’s guidance, students will learn resume and cover letter preparations, mock interviews, and self-awareness and self-management strategies through experiential situations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Manual and computerized bookkeeping systems

Fundamentals and basic structure of bookkeeping, accounting for liabilities and assets, financial reporting, and implementation of effective strategies in sound financial decisions.

General ledgers for financial statements

All Accpac courses including SAGE 300 and SAGE 50. Learn all about Employment Insurance, Canadian Pension Plan, Income Tax Act, and how to set up the Sub ledgers, Bank and Tax Services, the Accounts Payable module, and more.

Federal and Provincial payroll legislation

In-depth knowledge of Accounts Receivable operations and Payroll rules and regulations, employment status, pay rates, requirements for garnishments, unclaimed paychecks, reporting, penalty assessments, amended returns, and other non-routine instances. Proficiency at generating paychecks using computer software.

Tax returns for individuals and contractors

Fundamentals of Canadian tax law and practice concerning individuals and corporations. How to determine income taxes for business and investment activities and analyze alternatives on an after-tax basis and how to use SAGE 300 ERP for tax-related documents.

Prepare financial reports and submit government documents

Prepare tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms and related documents using Quickbooks.

Employment and student success strategies

Methods to navigate student and professional life through effective academic, self-awareness, and self-management strategies and impressive and effective resumes, cover letters and interview skills.
