The Cannabis Extraction Head Certificate Program is designed to prepare professionals for one of the most critical roles within a cannabis Processing Licensed Producer (LP) facility. The Head of Extraction is responsible for overseeing all activities related to cannabis extraction, ensuring that Good Production Practices (GPP) are applied effectively and consistently. This program provides comprehensive training on the regulatory requirements and core responsibilities of the role, covering essential topics such as selecting the appropriate extraction methods for different product outcomes, mastering technical extraction techniques, post-extraction processes, maximizing process efficiencies, and adhering to sampling and testing standards. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to meet regulatory expectations while optimizing performance in a cannabis extraction facility. As mandated by Health Canada and other regulatory bodies, individuals appointed as the Head of Extraction must possess the appropriate level of competency, relevant training, and hands-on experience to perform their duties in compliance with cannabis processing standards. This course addresses those regulatory expectations in a structured and interactive format, giving participants direct access to expert trainers for questions and clarification throughout the program. The two-day training is divided into key modules. Day 1 focuses on foundational knowledge, starting with how growing practices differ depending on whether the cannabis is intended for consumption, extraction, or infusion. Participants will then explore various extraction methods, including hydrocarbon, ethanol, solventless, and CO? extraction, as well as the importance of proper harvesting, handling, and storage. Day 2 delves deeper into the specific requirements, expectations, and technical nuances of each extraction method. It also covers critical post-extraction processes such as terpene and cannabinoid isolation, the production of concentrates, and the formulation of oils for vapes and edibles. By the end of the program, participants will be able to determine and apply the most suitable extraction and post-extraction methods, improve process efficiency in line with regulatory standards, manage the operations of an extraction facility, conduct sampling for lab testing, and effectively troubleshoot extraction-related issues. These competencies make graduates highly suited for a range of career opportunities, including roles such as Extraction Technician, Extraction Technologist, Head of Extraction, Cannabis Consultant, Validation Scientist, and Validation Engineer. This program is ideal for anyone interested in learning advanced cannabis extraction techniques, whether they are currently working in the industry or seeking to enter it. Technicians, technologists, and staff employed by Licensed Producers will particularly benefit from the applied skills and regulatory insights provided by this comprehensive training. Program Offer: Register for any three certificate programs at NACPT and receive any available one-day training free of charge. All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successfully finishing the training program.
